JOE DIETL PAINTER/MURALIST
Thanks to Tim’s guidance and honest critiques, I've transitioned from a weekend artist to a full-time creator, running my own studio and gallery in Palm Springs.
Tim's the one who got me thinking about why I paint what I paint and how I approach it. Getting all introspective isn't exactly my default mode, but Tim's nudges in that direction really change the game for me. He's not just focused on the technicalities of art; he's all about exploring my curiosity.
Being an artist can be a lonely journey, but having Tim take a look at my works-in-progress feels like having a friend along for the ride. His insights help me tweak and refine until my creations truly come to life. If you ever get a chance to work with Tim, don't hesitate! He's the mentor who'll help you take your art to a whole new level in a way that feels down-to-earth and genuine."

Tim's mentorship is a game-changer for me.
I remember him saying, “Don’t try to make art, just make stuff.” That simple advice opened up a world of possibilities. He urged me to think about what truly intrigued me and to write about my work, which surprisingly clarified my intentions and sparked my creativity.
Tim's knack for questioning every artistic choice, from color palettes to canvas sizes, forced me to consider the deeper meaning behind my creations. One time, I was stuck in a painting, and Tim suggested taking an adverse action, and fill the canvas with my least favorite color, yellow. It made me step outside my box of tricks and look at the piece differently, forcing me to try a different way to reconcile the work. It worked like magic, resulting in one of my best-selling pieces.
His guidance to stick with a series and explore it thoroughly rather than jumping between projects made a significant impact. I recall a project involving little girl hair bows as a metaphor. Tim's encouragement to delve deeper into that theme led to a profound series that resonated with audiences.
Tim's mentorship continues to influence the way I approach my work. He has a unique way of pushing you to explore your creativity while maintaining a genuine connection to your art.

“Just paint. You can’t ‘figure it out' without painting… your solutions come from working.”
“It’s about making choices and knowing they are true and right, FOR YOU. Trust your instincts.”
These are a few things Tim said (repeatedly when needed) while working with me over last few years.
He guides me in priceless ways to better my process and the work itself .“Let go of the reference, be guided by your brush,” Tim pushes me out of my comfort zone (sometimes kicking and screaming). Whether we are discussing color choices or seeing things from different perspective, I trust Tim emphatically to tell me the truth. He pushes me to a higher level of working and thinking.
Tim sees MY work, unbiased from his own. He is such an integral part of my growth as a painter and as an artist. Tim is an absolute gift.
